Previously on The Secret Life of the American Teenager, it's time for Amy to go. "Is your mother coming over?" asks her friend. "Its time for her to go." Amy is going to summer school in New York and her friend has some advice for her. "You can make the decision as to where youre gonna live. Dont forget, Im paying for it. So you and some woman picked out a place for you and me?" Her friend questions. "I might be interested in buying out your share of the furniture store. Hearts;hearts;" she says.
Amy expresses her desire for a clean break from her friend. She explains, "I want a clean break. I dont want to be tangled up with you anymore. I just want to know where we stand." Her friend responds, "Goodnight and goodbye. I hope we can still be friends."
In another scene, Amy's mother arrives at her house. She tells her, "Dont go back there. I want to marry you and I want to sleep with you right now." Amy expresses her anxiety about getting married and her nervousness about sleeping with her mother again. She tells her mother, "I want to get married the day after I graduate. Thank you, Kathleen, for inviting me to stay here and for allowing me to be a part of your new life. But I cant talk to my mother about this. I cant tell her I slept with Jack."
Amy's friend invites her to a gathering with Anne, but Amy is unsure if she wants to go because she doesn't want to reveal why she didn't want to be with her friend in the first place. When Ginger calls her, Amy admits that she doesn't even want to graduate or go to college. She explains that it's not exactly easy to get into the college where Ricky, Jack, and she attend, and that the schools around here aren't perfect either.
Finally, Amy's friend encourages her to get over Grant getting into Harvard. "Grace, you just have to get over that," she says.
