This review is about the anime, 1000 Girls at this school. The sci-fi mecha aspect of the show was not the central theme, as it appears to be more of an ecchi harem comedy set in a school with mechs involved. Unfortunately, there has been little or no plot development throughout the series. While there are fighting scenes, most lack the emotional weight needed to make them engaging. However, the comedy side is fairly amusing and I genuinely appreciate the world that's being portrayed.

The sci-fi and mech concepts, however, are merely used as a facade to support both the comedy and fan service aspects of the show. I understand that such elements can be enjoyable for some viewers, but even a simple storyline would have sufficed to enhance the setting instead of leaving us with a mediocre mess.

Overall, I rate the animation quality at 8/10. The visuals are appealing to the eye, and the character designs are decent. The action scenes, though brief and lacking in emotion, are visually impressive. The soundtrack is average, but does its job in setting the mood for each scene.

In conclusion, while 1000 Girls at this school may offer some lighthearted entertainment, it falls short on substance and depth compared to other shows in its genre. If you're looking for a show that focuses solely on comedy and fan service, this one might fit the bill. But if you value well-developed storylines and characters, this show may leave you feeling unsatisfied.

This show's greatest strength is its visual design. Released in 2011, it still looks fantastic. The camerawork during fight scenes is particularly impressive, and I personally adore the mech designs. Each character has a unique appearance that stands out (except for the male characters, of course), and the movements are crisp and smooth.

The show takes a 50/50 approach to 2D and 3D mechs, which can result in an unappealing combination if executed poorly. However, this approach works well in this instance. Although I still prefer traditional 2D mechs over everything else, I appreciate the benefits of using both techniques.

In terms of sound, the show receives a score of 8/10.

The OP of this show is amazing, with great visuals and a fantastic song that fits the atmosphere of the world perfectly. However, the main thing that I would like to talk about for this category is the ED. My god, they did not have to go that hard. This is an instant hood classic. All of the female voice actors came together and created one of the catchiest anime endings ever. This actually could have inspired later ecchi shows like "Highschool DxD" to do the same. The voice actors even toured Japan and sang the ED in front of live audiences. Fantastic stuff here.

Characters – 7/10

In terms of characters, the show has some standout performances, but overall it's just okay. There are a few characters who stand out, such as our protagonist, who is a bit of a brat at first but grows into a more mature character over the course of the series. Additionally, there are a few supporting characters who provide some interesting perspectives on certain aspects of life in Japan. Overall, though, the characters feel somewhat flat and uninspired.

This is a typical harem setup of characters. Our main character is absolutely dreadful. No personality, dense and clearly overthinking. The female characters are a little bit better. This show is set in an international boarding school, so every girl has a different national background. We have a Japanese, British, French, Chinese, and German girl here, all with different mechs, looks, and personalities. The quality of depth in their characters is inconsistent, but they are all likeable and fun to watch. If the main character wasn't such an irredeemable idiot, there would actually be a lot of potential here, but I cannot give this category a higher score at the moment.

Enjoyment – 7/10

Well, I have to confess that I enjoy these types of lighthearted comedies from time to time and this particular series is no exception. While the storyline may not be the best and the main character isn't exactly someone I'd root for, I am definitely interested in watching season two. This is great entertainment, perfect for catching up during lunch or while commuting to university on the subway. If you're a fan of shows like "Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry", "Highschool DxD" or "The Irregular of Magic Highschool", then you'll probably find something to love about this show as well.

Overall, my final score for this series is 7/10.
